Luvata Pori’s Vehicles Run on Renewable Diesel and Fuel Oil

Renewable diesel and fuel oil station in Copper Industrial Park in Pori

Luvata Pori is located in a copper industrial park in Pori, Finland, and collaborates closely with other companies in the area. Recently, Luvata Pori along with its neighboring companies, collectively decided to transition the park’s fuel distribution station from fossil fuels to renewable diesel and fuel oil, marking a significant step towards a sustainable future.

October 2024 was an important month for sustainability at the copper industrial park where Luvata Pori is located. During this time, the companies in the park, including Luvata Pori, switched the area's distribution station to renewable fuels. The transition from fossil diesel and fuel oil to renewable alternatives, made entirely from waste and residual materials, marks a major step in promoting environmentally friendly business practices.

“This change has been made in cooperation with companies in the region and supports the common goals of promoting sustainable development. At Luvata, we are dedicated to continuously reducing greenhouse gas emissions, aiming to achieve carbon neutrality by 2045,” explains Saara Koski, EQP Director from Luvata Pori.

Drastically Decreasing Carbon Dioxide Emissions

Luvata Pori has many vehicles that transport products and materials between factory buildings daily. These as well as other companies’ vehicles in the copper industrial park are now powered by renewable fuels. Visitors, such as heavy traffic transporting resources or product collectors, are also permitted to use the station and its eco-friendlier options.

“With the change from fossil diesel and fuel oil to renewable ones, it is hoped that carbon dioxide emissions from traffic and motoring will decrease by up to 90 %. We will also achieve other clear advantages, as cleaner burning fuels increase the lifespan of vehicles.”

The use of renewable fuels supports Luvata in reaching its strategic goals towards carbon-neutral operations. Luvata has taken other steps towards the goals as well, for example, Luvata Pori has previously switched to using carbon-free district heating produced with renewable energy and carbon-free electricity in its operations.
