Amazing facts and figures
Our products are used in many different ways and in many different places:
We provided 525 million kilometres of
superconductive filament
to Cern's LHC project. That's enough to go to the moon and back again 684 times.
Contained within the electromagnets of the European X-ray Free-Electron Laser (XFEL) is over 20 kilometers of our jointless
hollow conductor branded Mileon
®. The European XFEL will generate extremely intense, ultrashort x-ray flashes - 27000 times per second and with a brilliance that is a billion times higher than that of the best conventional x-ray sources.
We manufactured 7,000 miles of
wire
that will be part of the ITER toroidal field magnet system in Southern France. ITER, an unprecedented international collaboration to demonstrate sustained burning plasma—a necessary step for fusion energy development.
We delivered 243
copper staves
, weighing a total of over 583 tones, to Rogesa in Dillingen, Germany for the relining of its blast furnace 4.
We've delivered over 70,000 miles of
welding wire
in the past year. If it was all welded together, it could wrap around the earth nearly 2.8 times.
Luvata's capacity for producing
Sunwire
is 3.5 GigaWatts. That means over 15 million photovoltaic modules at 230 W.
Last year the company sold over 95 million
electrodes
. These electrodes could be used to produce roughly 380 billion welds on the cars we all drive.
