Michelle, Senior Buyer

Michelle is a Senior Buyer within the Tubes Division at Luvata’s Franklin office. She joined the company in May 2005.

What is your background?

I spent more than ten years in purchasing and have a technical background in electronics and robotics and applied sciences (manufacturing sciences).

What attracted you to working at Luvata?

The initial attraction came shortly after the interview process, when I was presented with the ‘promise’ of change management and a dynamic workplace that would embrace innovation.

What are your main responsibilities?

My primary responsibilities include securing and administering the local supply base to optimise the facility spend. This can involve anything from identifying new suppliers, assisting with the implementation of new programs, improving on present designs, negotiating contracts and participating in regional and global procurement initiatives.

What do you enjoy most about working for Luvata?

There are many things I presently enjoy about my role within Luvata…no two days are similar, the global aspect is wonderful and I enjoy the challenges to improving programs.

What is the most important thing you have learned since being here?

Welcome change…it is inevitable.

What are your hopes for your future with Luvata?

I hope to expand on my purchasing skill set, but would also genuinely welcome the opportunity to venture into the manufacturing management arena. I would also be very interested in pursuing any overseas opportunities that arose.

What advice would you give someone thinking of applying to Luvata?

Keep an open mindset, be a catalyst to change, and there are no ‘small’ victories.

Describe yourself in three words

Multi-faceted, passionate, & driven.
