Tubes and Hollow Conductors for Magnet Windings

In applications where high magnetic fields are required, magnetic windings are typically made from internally cooled hollow copper sections. The most typical applications for hollow conductors are particle accelerators; hollow conductors are used to make windings for bending magnets and focusing magnets.

Raw materials

The ideal material for hollow conductors is Luvata's high conductivity oxygen free copper. If elevated softening temperature or higher creep strength are required, silver-bearing copper grades based on Luvata Oxygen Free copper can be used. This copper offers very high electrical and thermal conductivity and good brazeability or weldability.
