CuproBraze

Copper fins

Luvata is a pioneer, and possibly also the foremost authority on CuproBraze® technology.

Luvata's brazed copper/brass heat exchangers are fabricated from thin copper or brass strip using the latest technology. These new heat exchangers are more durable and compact than conventional ones.

Superior Heat Transfer

The CuproBraze® process is used to produce highly efficient heat exchangers, and it excels in critical performance criteria such as size, efficiency and durability. Because of its strength, and durability, as well as the flexibility it offers in manufacture and the high temperature performance of the finished products, CuproBraze® is the manufacturing method of choice in practically every application calling for superior heat transfer in a compact space. It is also a more environmentally friendly and low maintenance solution than using materials such as aluminium.

Savings in Time and Money

CuproBraze® represents a new generation of automotive heat exchangers. The joints are of environmental friendly CuNiSnP brazing alloy and has been designed so that the fluxing stage of the process is not needed. This eliminates the need for rinsing after brazing and subsequent water treatments, meaning savings in time and money.

CuproBraze® products are durable

Thanks to strong brazed joints, heat exchangers made by the CuproBraze process are extremely rugged. Their excellent resistance to fatigue and corrosion, and good repairability, lead to a long service life in many applications.

The ability to withstand elevated temperatures is a crucial benefit. Temperatures up to 300 C are no problem for CuproBraze products. Its high temperature tolerance makes it ideal for low-emission engine technology.

CuproBraze technology is well suited for these applications:

  • Radiators
  • Heaters
  • Charge air coolers (CACs)
  • Oil coolers
  • CPU coolers. Inverter coolers in hybrid vehicles.
  • Climate control condensers and evaporators.

Copper is classified as antimicrobial material, meaning less odor in passenger compartment.

The technology is ideal for vehicles and equipment such as:

  • Heavy-duty (HD) highway trucks
  • Construction & agricultural equipment
  • Stationary power generators
  • Other off-road diesel engines
  • Medium and light trucks & SUVs
  • Passenger cars

Copper fights dust

Dust can be a real irritant for drives. It can clog up vehicle radiators. Copper and CuproBraze® bring the following advantages:

  • Thinner CuproBraze® materials - more space for air and dust to pass through
  • Stronger than aluminium - radiators can be washed with pressurized water without bending fins.
  • Less fan power needed - savings on fuel and quieter, trouble-free journey for the driver.

Copper fights bacteria

Copper alloys are antimicrobial, which makes them ideal for automotive air-conditioning systems. Bacteria can grow on the aluminium evaporators, causing unpleasant odours which need to be eliminated with chemical treatments. Antimicrobial copper avoids this problem.
