
Peter joined Luvata in July 2005. He works as Network Operations Team Leader in the IT department in Luvata’s Buffalo office.
What is your background?
I have a degree in History and another in Economic Crime Investigation. I also have a number of professional qualifications with Cisco, Citrix and Microsoft and am continuing to study for more. Before Luvata, I worked as a Help Desk Analyst for over a year. I also teach basic computer repair and networking techniques through a local college at night a few days a week.
What attracted you to working at Luvata?
Luvata has a solid foundation of values, ethics and standards. I was honoured to have a chance to interview for a position here, because of the company history. It is a mainstay in Buffalo, and receiving a chance to work here was very exciting.
What are your main responsibilities?
My duties as Network Operations Team Leader include looking after the LAN servers and network infrastructure, monitoring network applications, such as Citrix, Cisco and Windows, recommending cost efficient solutions for server and network related equipment, resolving global email remote access connectivity problems and upgrading current technology with new technological advancements.
What are you enjoying most about working for Luvata?
I enjoy the community aspect of Luvata. Everyone is friendly here and everyone is willing to work together to achieve optimal performance. People here are welcoming, which helps a great deal when trying to support them in the IT field.
What is the most important thing you have learned since being here?
I have learned a GREAT deal here, especially technically. But, the most important thing that I have discovered was who I really am. I have discovered what drives me and who I am in this world. With that focus, I have grown and matured, and my work ethic has reaped the benefits of it.
What are your hopes for your future with Luvata?
I am hoping to continue in the IT field at Luvata, to not only help our Buffalo users, but be able to support our users on a global scale. There is no better feeling then seeing a smile on someone’s face after you help solve a problem with them. I would like to experience that on a global scale.
What advice would you give someone thinking of applying to Luvata?
Be ready to join an elite community of professionals who have a keen eye on details and getting the job done. Nowhere else will you learn the discipline of hard work and get such a sense of community.
