Z-Trode™

Outperforms Class 2 electrodes in every aspect of resistance welding. Z-Trode™ is a cost-effective cap electrode available for resistance welding of light-to-medium-gauge coated and uncoated steels. The Z-Trode™ cap electrode is cold-formed from CDA Alloy C15000 zirconium copper.

The combination of advanced copper metallurgy and our cold-forming technology yields an electrode that outperforms RWMA Class 2 chromium copper electrodes in all areas of resistance welding productivity, including mushrooming resistance, conductivity, service life and maintenance costs.

It makes no-stick welding routine.

Sticking is inevitable when you weld galvanized steel with Class 2 electrodes. The chrome in Class 2 encourages the alloying of the zinc and copper to create a brass alloy surface. And that stops the welding action dead. But Z-Trode™  is an alloy of zirconium and oxygen-free copper. The zirconium discourages the alloying effect on the electrode face and prevents sticking. And that means continual welding for greater productivity with no special dressings, or increased power requirements to weld coated materials.

It resists mushrooming.

The zirconium-copper alloy in the Z-Trode™ cap electrode is far more resistant to mushrooming and wear than Class 2 electrodes, minimizing line interruptions and rewelds. And because of its superior conductivity, Z-Trode™  requires a lower power setting, thus creating less heat, which causes mushrooming.

It requires less energy.

Due to its higher electrical conductivity, the Z-Trode™ cap electrode requires lower amperage per equivalent weld when used on both sides of the weldment, yielding longer electrode life, more consistent welds and savings in energy consumption. Heat control on your welder can be reduced 5-10 percent from its Class 2 setting with no loss in weld integrity.

It promotes smooth start up after electrode changes.

The Z-Trode™ cap electrode requires no warm-up, conditioning or initial preparation.

It saves you money.

Through field tests and actual production applications, the Z-Trode™ cap electrode has proven to be the most cost-effective electrode for resistance welding. Increased life expectancy, reduced downtime for maintenance, lower energy requirements and better welds assure a better return on your investment not only for electrodes, but for all facets of your welding operation.

And while the cost of a cap electrode may represent a small part of your overall operating investment, its performance and durability directly determine the productivity of your entire welding operation.
